CONTADOR DE VISITAS

The mission and the foundation of Jesus in his earthly ministry was to serve and give himself wholly to others. On one occasion he said: "For the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many" Mark 10:45. There are many who have not had the opportunity to experience the joy of serving. "Familia Feliz" is an orphanage and school. It is located near the community of Rurrenabaque, Bolivia. Our mission is to provide emotional, pyschological and spiritual support, in a family atmosphere to help children grow physically and in Christian values, as well as develop their full potential. Familia Feliz has given me the opportunity to experience the joy of serving as a missionary for a year and my life will never be the same. Being able to see happy, shining faces receive a helping hand and see how little lives are transformed, is priceless. But this time I want to share with you the joy that I, together with the boys from the home and some other volunteer missionaries, have experienced, by supporting a group in a church called "Nueva Esperanza." They are a wonderful group of brethren, whenever we have the opportunity, we thouroughly enjoy praising God with them, conveying their love and fervor, and leave filled with the Spirit of God every time we go to his temple; all this despite all the material and physical limitations they have. It is amazing to see such joy and brotherly love when you realize that the roof is only supported by several simple columns. It has no floor, it is only covered in dirt; and for that reason we can not worship often when it rains. But despite that they do not cease to kneel in the mud because they understand that God deserves all reverance, glory, honor and worship. I personally learned a great lesson in the middle of a worship that touched my heart and blew me away. All this at a time of prayer. When I went wearing white pants; at the time of prayer, I thought that because of the muddy floor, all would remain standing, it would be more logical. And to my surprise it was a big lesson for me to see all the brethren, one by one, children and adults, regardless of the mud, kneeling for a prayer to our God. Then I saw my white pants and looked at the floor and immediately knew what to do: bow myself in prayer. There are many today who can worship in comfortable places, while others lack the means to give offerings of praise to God, Familia Feliz will continue to support this wonderful group, because of what God has given us, that is what we share, our talents, the power to collaborate with them in what we can give, although not gold or silver but our helping hands. There is much that can be done, your prayers are important so that God can provide and they can finish their temple and continue to offer their worship to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
